NOSFERATU, A SYMPHONY OF HORROR (Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie des Grauens) (1922) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - F.W. Murnau

Written by - Henrik Galeen

Starring - Max Schreck, Gustav von Wangenheim, Greta Schroder

"A masterwork of the German Expressioonism cinematic era, Nosferatu is F.W. Murnau’s version of the famous Dracula tale. The set ups and photography, full of sinister shadows and a creepy atmosphere, is effectively bone chilling. It is a little unfortunate that the film may be a little dated in structure and lacks a little urgency when Nosferatu leaves the screen. Max Schreck’s embodiment as Nosferatu can easily be considered one of the most chilling performances in the history of film, and one of the most haunting and scary presences to ever lurk on the big screen."
