MATT'S CINEMA DIARY: March 14-20, 2016
Matt's personal experience at various cinematic screenings throughout the week. This week, lots of 23rd Febiofest Prague International Film Festival screenings; I, Olga Hepnarova, Eva Nova, Vanity, Before Sunrise, Stubborn, Stanko, Suffragette, The Cleaner.
When I attended the screening at the One World International Human Rights Film Festival in Prague of the film 3 1/2 Minutes, 10 Bullets, I didn't think that it would in fact be my last screening at that festival. But the day after, two more interviews I had planned ended up being canceled for some other problems, which led me to think that I should just end my involvement with them, and simply take advantage of their videotheque, watch the films online and complete some type of review coverage of the festival for CineCola. After all, right now, I am so busy with the pre-production of my own film, and with the coverage of the other Prague festival that followed One World, Febiofest, that I simply had no time to be discouraged by other people's mistakes.
I shouldn't say anything too bad about One World. After all, they liked and retweeted a lot of my stuff on social media, which is something festivals ever do. But then again, would that be me selling out? Anyways, this week was even more rich and intense for me. Febiofest has press screenings as well, which I managed to make despite the number 6 tram from Horky to Andel aka from my house to Febiofest's base CineStar being the slowest and worst. On top of these press screenings, I took almost full advantage of the free ticket coupons I got as a member of the press. And somehow, this year's festival was much better than last year's. It isn't over yet, but certainly, my experience has been more enjoyable. Maybe it is because I am more used to being a resident of the Czech capital? Maybe it's because I did less drinking at it this year? Somehow, I am more inclined to think the latter fact might be the main reason...
But also, PR is much more amicable and capable than One World, so this has led me to be a lot more content with my activities at it. Not to mention that the selection thus far has been quite good, despite a few duds...So, without further ado, let's get cracking into my weekly cinema diary!
