"This comedy recreates the nightmarish moment of a man’s meeting with the fiancee’s family; the situation here is made worst by the fact that her father is a former CIA man out to get his son-in-law-to-be. There was no doubt this film would be highly successful at the time of release, and indeed it spun a whole comedy film franchise. Meet the Parents is not the smartest of the comedy films and neither the most original, but Stiller carries much of the film as the laughing stock of the show well, and De Niro gives him some good support."
