MATT'S CINEMA DIARY: March 21-27, 2016
Matt's personal experience at various cinematic screenings throughout the week. This week the last round of screenings at the 2016 Febiofest; Strange Heaven, Siska Deluxe, Jeremy and Dyke Hard.
As pre-production for my first fiction short film Love, Maybe, Not Quite approached its final month, I found myself attending less and less screenings, despite my activities at the second part of Febiofest. This means that in comparison to the previous weeks, the total sum of screenings I attended amounted only to four; a shameful fact considering that many of the free ticket coupons I had been given by the festival as member of the press were left unused. What a waste. But what can I do? Sometimes, there's just no time.
Add to all this, the fact that I have a number of jobs that pay for the bills, and you have yourself a pretty busy Matt. Thankfully, I cherished the experience of each of the screenings I attended, and despite this second part of the festival being less remarkable than the first in terms of quality, with the films I chose ranging from great to exhaustingly bad, I feel like they were a fitting end to what was a rather pleasent festival experience. All this was due to the fact that I was more content with my activities for the festival. I had set the bar lower in terms of interview expectations, and found it exceeded, thanks to a helpful collaboration with the PR office, which I must give credit to. And it was very interesting for me to walk about the festival area, meeting filmmakers and film people, actually talking about my own film, and receiving some helpful, uplifting advice.
Anyways, without further ado, here are the four screenings of this week's cinema diary!
