JEREMY by Anwar Safa @ CineStar Andel, Prague, CZ

El Jeremias (Mexico). Screening as part of the 23rd Febiofest Prague International Film Festival on 22/03/2016, 22:00.

Oh, yes, so one of the things I forgot to mention due to space constraint in the previous entry was that on this day, I was hungover to bits. The night before I had met with one of the actresses who I cast in the film, and what was initially meant to be only one glass of wine ended up...well, getting drunk until six in the morning and acting like the punks that we are.

It was a terrific night, but it meant only getting about 2 hours of sleep and still having to get up to interview a director, and sticking around the cinema for a screening for a future interview. I have no idea why or how I managed to make a late night screening. Possibly because I didn't want to let a free cinema ticket go to waste, but maybe also because my sadistic self wanted to see if I could sneak in another, unplanned interview for this festival, which I did the next day. The director and screenwriter of the film were in attendance, but the screening had no Q and A, just an introduction. I knew nothing about the film, so when they talked about little kids, geniuses and Mexico, I was all over it. Indeed, I was not disappointed, and Jeremy is one of the most delightful new films I have seen in a long time.

So I was twice as happy to have stuck around for the film, and I was very happy to have also taken the chance of passing out due to self-inflicted exhaustion on the seat of a multiplex. That shit only should only happen to me in Cannes or Venice...
