16/12/2014 - Mark Adams announced as the new artistic director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival

Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) today announced the appointment Mark Adams, Chief Film Critic for respected trade magazine Screen International and renowned film critic for The Sunday Mirror, as the new artistic director. Adams was previously head of programming at the National Film Theatre in London, Director of Cinema at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and has programmed numerous film festivals around the world.
 
Adams said "I'm thrilled to be helping the Edinburgh International Film Festival develope and grow and am looking forward to bringing new challenging, entertaining and exciting cinema to the city."
Ken Hay, CEO of EIFF commented "We are delighted to have Mark joining the team. His passion for film, his fantastic experience as a programmer, journalist and critic, along with his reputation in the UK and internationally make him the ideal choice to drive the future success of the festival.
 
Mark Adams will begin his role as Artistic Director in March next year. The 2015 edition of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which will be the 69th of its history, will run from the 17th to the 28th of June.
