22/7/2014 - The three finalist films for the European Parliament LUX Prize 2014 announced

The newly elected Presidet of the Committee on Culture, Mrs Silvia Costa, announced today on a video message from Brussels the three finalist films that will be competing for this year's Lux Prize award. The announcement was made during the press conference for the announcement of this year's programme of the Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori).

 


The three films selected are:

- CLASS ENEMY by Rok Bicek (Slovenia)
- GIRLHOOD by Céline Sciamma (France)
- IDA by Pawel Pawlikowski (Poland/Danmark)

 


The three finalist films will be subtitled in the 24 official languages of the European Union, while the winning film, voted by the Members of the European Parliament, will be adapted visually and hearing impaired supported through prommotion during its international release.

 


Since 2007, the European Parliament LUX prize casts an annual spotlight on films that go to the heart of the European public debate. The previous LUX Prize winners have been The Broken Circle Breakdown, by Felix van Groeningen (2013),  Io sono Li by Andrea Segre (2012),  Les Neiges du Kilimandjaro by Robert Guédiguian (2011), Die Fremde by Feo Aladag (2010), Welcome by Philippe Lioret (2009),  Le silence de Lorna by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (2008) and Auf der anderen Seite by Fatih Akin (2007).
