127 HOURS (2010) - ♦♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Danny Boyle

Written by - Danny Boyle, Simon Beaufoy (based on the book 'Between a Rock and a Hard Place' by Aron Ralston)

Starring - James Franco

"An excursionist on one of his many trips to a canyon in Utah remains isolated and trapped after a boulder falls on his arm. There, he recalls old friends, lovers and his family as he struggles helplessly to save himself.

Boyle’s exciting style expands the boundaries of the film’s subject exploring the extraordinary adventure in a psychological and humane way, whilst retaining a gripping appeal from start to end. He does this by exploiting the thrilling claustrophobic situation and by flirting with more surrealist elements that expand the narrative in a uniquely visionary way.

James Franco as the leading man, who spends virtually the whole film talking to himself and a camera, is praiseworthy. He is certainly a driving force in 127 Hours and never misses a beat despite the challenging role which he is faced with."
