"The end of the world according to Roland Emmerich, who has somewhat of an obsession with this particular theme. But alas, Emmerich’s film also often have a tendency to disappoint with clichés and conglomerations of naïve takes on such issues. This film was a blatant attempt to capitalise on the world’s impending fear that saw an old Mayan prediction which foresaw the end of the world in the titular year.

2012 focuses on the life of one man, an unlikely hero played by John Cusack – who tries, god bless him – trying to desperately save himself and his family. So, not unlike Spielberg’s War of the World storyline, which in itself wasn’t all that impressive either.

This film really just seems like the usual CGI driven science fiction disaster flick with casual scattered awkward attempts at a dramatic depth that fall flat on their face and make the overall work seem rather inconsistent and tedious."
