Be Kind Rewind by the visionary filmmaker Michel Gondry, who also wrote the screenplay, cashes in on its nostalgia appeal but does so in a rather creative and inventive way. 

While the film lacks a drive in the narrative sense, and pales in comparison to his previous and ambitious Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind by essentially playing it safe, the film is very charming and its art direction very inspiring and inspired."
