BETWEEN THE ACTS (1919) - ♦♦♦♦
Directed by - Larry Semon
Written by - Larry Semon
Starring - Larry Semon
"In this slapstick comedy short, popular comic Larry Semon's main role is that of an incompetent stage hand whose antics cause constant chaos and madness at a music hall variety show. But he also plays other characters within the same film, such as a performer a cop and a member of the audience who, despite the surrounding madness, is mostly fast asleep.
Between the Acts is arguably one of the best short films that have survived out of the endless Larry Semon filmography. It's good to see him try something different, and at the same time it is also good to se a different format that doesn't revolve around the usual chase but is rather well contextualised by the chronology of the vaudevillian show.
