"Inspired by true accounts, DELIVER US FROM EVIL is the story of a New York cop and an unvonventional priest team up to combat a series of possessions that have been terrorizing the city. 

On paper, this film seems interesting. It seems to embrace a more urban and gritty feel, the kinds that recalls such experiments from the seventies. This is particularly true of the characters, vulnerable in their own ways, and seemingly very real and unique, particularly the former drug addict turned priest, who is a type of night vigilante in the streets of New York City. 

However, the experiment is botched. SCOTT DERRICKSON is quite unable to blend in the opposing natures of his stories, and the narrative is far too familiar to be even remotely original. This leads to a considerable drawback in intensity and pacing, while the second rate dialogue full of exposition lines further reveals the difficulties of the film to feel confident about making up its mind about its target audience."
