DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (1920) - ♦♦♦♦
Directed by - John S. Robertson
Written by - Clara Beranger (based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson and the novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde, and the play by Thomas Russell Sullivan)
Starring - John Barrymore
"John Barrymore is Dr. Jekyll, a scientist who makes a potion able to turn him into a rogue of monstrous appearances that allows him to explore the dark sides and its vices. His performances as both the titular character’s personalities are memorable and perhaps this portrayal of the character is one of the most memorable of the American silent horror genre. The film itself is quite well made, with a constant rhythm but also a good deal of suspense, particularly in the film’s climax."
