"Batman faces Joker, a clown dressed criminal who aims to destroy Gotham City. The Dark Knights is a landmark film in the comic book hero film genre that has spun countless films but has never seemed so complete, so deep and so close to perfection. Christopher Nolan, who had already shown his understanding of the character of Batman by giving him and Gotham City a true representation that justified the emphasis on the pseudonym of the dark knight, returns to the scene of the crime in a second film with a better screenplay with an intriguing but never intricate screenplay that assures an engaging kind of entertainment that is rare to find. Furthermore, the strength also lies in the characters, so well defined whether it is the titular vigilante or the historical enemy The Joker portrayed in an intense and compelling way by Ledger, whose premature death took place prior to the release of the film. And while the photography stuns and the effects amaze, it is clear to see all throughout that everything in this film seems right, and everything after this film would never be the same for a genre that had been heavily commercialised since its inception."
