"Disney picked Carlo Collodi’s famous tale of the living marionette who wants to be a little boy for their second feature length work. Unfortunately, the story appears in its most simplistic form – while this can be easily understood by the point at which technical advancement had come to in the history of film animation, it does make the film seem much more outdated than, for instance, its predecessor Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But while the quality of the story falters, the quality of the animation remains untouched. Furthermore, this is the film that includes one of the best and most renowned songs in Disney music history in When You Wish Upon a Star."
