"Adaption of LeeFalk’s comic strip about a superhero without superpowers or gadgetry but lots of courage and heroism. From Indiana Jones to the Mummy there certainly have been better attempts at recreating the magic, or at least the characteristic appeal of matinees. The Phantom simply falls flat because of its one-dimensional screenplay and there is very little anyone can do about it."
