"A conservative judge is appointed by the President to spearhead the USA’s war on drugs, only to find out that his own daughter is a drug addict. As usual, the multi-layered plot formula used by Traffic means that some of the storylines are less interesting than other ones. Nevertheless, there is an impressive intelligence that can be noticed in Gaghan’s screenplay which allows it to deal with difficult and hard themes tastefully but at the same time in a cold matter of fact way. Soderbergh, on his part, completes the screenplay by carefully saturating the cinematography and letting the story unravel with great intensity. The top notch cast delivers great performances."
